Wedding Detail Photos: Decide What Has Meaning

You don’t need to buy extra things just to fill a wedding detail photo. Start with what’s already part of your day, then tell me which pieces have a story behind them.

Tell me why that little thing matters

A piece of jewelry might be borrowed from someone important. A note might hold words you want to remember. I won’t know that just from looking at the object.

When I photographed my childhood best friend’s celebration, the shared history mattered to me. Your wedding has its own history, and I’d love to know which details carry a bit of it.

Put the important pieces somewhere findable

Talk through the details you want photographed before the day. If they’re spread across rooms or staying with different people, choose someone who knows where to find them.

Rings, flowers, and clothing may be needed elsewhere, too. Tell me about that timing so nobody is hunting through a bag when they’re supposed to be doing something else.

Think about the detail in use, too

A photograph of a necklace by itself and a photograph of someone helping you put it on tell different things. If one version matters more to you, say so.

A flat lay can be lovely if you want one. It isn’t a wedding requirement. We can give your meaningful pieces attention while still leaving time for the people and the rest of the day.

A few things to plan

A few questions you might have

Do we need a flat lay?

Only if you want one. There’s no required wedding-detail arrangement to complete.

Should we bring sentimental items?

Yes, tell me about them first so we can work out how they fit into the day.

Do I need a special box or extra styling items for wedding details?

Nope. Bring what matters to you. Extra boxes and styling pieces aren’t required.
