What to Include in Your Wedding Photography Inquiry

Your first message doesn’t need to sound like a wedding planner wrote it. Give me the date, the place, and a little about what you’re imagining. Still figuring some of that out? Tell me.

Start with what you know

A confirmed date helps me check availability. Your venue or city helps us talk about travel and photography coverage. If you have two possible dates, include both.

You can write something as simple as, “We’re planning a small wedding near St. Louis next fall and haven’t chosen a venue yet.” That gives us a starting point without requiring the entire day to be planned.

Tell me what you care about

Maybe you’re most excited to have all your people together. Maybe you love portraits but your partner is already worried about posing. Both are useful things for me to know.

Mention the photographs you keep coming back to in my work. You don’t have to describe your style in fancy words. “I love the laughing photos” makes perfect sense to me.

Ask the question that’s on your mind

Coverage, planning, pricing, delivery, or what happens next: ask. If you have a budget in mind, share it with the parts of the day you most want photographed.

A wedding with several locations needs a different timing conversation from one in a single space. The more I understand your plans, the more useful my answers can be. No photography terminology required.

A few things to plan

A few questions you might have

Can I inquire before booking a venue?

Yes. Send the area and dates you’re considering, and let me know what’s still flexible.

Should I send inspiration images immediately?

You can send a few if they help explain what you love. Start with your date, place, and priorities.

Should I include a budget in my wedding photography inquiry?

Yes, if you have one in mind. Share it alongside your priorities so we can talk about the current options and what’s included.

Let’s talk about your photographs

Tell me what you know so far, even if that’s just a date and a very excited “we’re getting married.” Explore my photography and approach or send an inquiry.
